The original inhabitants of Abuja (Gbagyi people) today arrived the main gate of the National Assembly today, being Tuesday, June 13, 2017, protesting alleged marginalization of the ethnic group by the federal government.
On the platform of FCT Natives Marginalized Youths, the natives are demanding for an FCT House of Assembly as a legislative arm of government.
The natives are also seeking the creation of two additional Senatorial districts and four federal constituencies.
The Gbagyis have also demanded a review of the FCT Act to make it more inclusive and community friendly.
The natives called for the immediate appointment of FCT natives in the composition of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
They are also seeking the integration of the original inhabitants of Abuja in the development of the FCT instead of resettlement
The natives further called for the creation of the Abuja Original Inhabitants Development Commission to undertake location of specific infrastructural development in communities and engender sustainable livelihood in remote communities in the FCT.
They natives are also demanding a certain percentage of employment in corporate organizations with headquarters in Abuja.
We no sabi do at all for this country. People wey no know how the place take start to exist just dey enjoy anyhow, while the natives themselves dey don dey pursue them into extinction. Too bad..
