"The world is waiting and the Rohingya Muslims are waiting for you.” Malala charged Aung San Suu Kyi

The inhumane treatment of the Rohingyas Muslims in Buddhist majority Myanmar has tarnished the image of Myanmar’s civilian leader and Nobel peace prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, once a famously unflinching defender of human rights and darling of the West. These violence has been considered as one of the biggest challenges Aung San Suu Kyi's government will face.

Following the ongoing episodes of violence against Rohingya Muslim in Myanmar last month, more than 90,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled to Bangladesh. Death toll will inevitably rise after Myanmar, blocked UN agencies from delivering vital food, water and medicine supplies to 250,000 Rakhine residents desperately in need.

Pakistani Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai in her tweet on september 3, urged Aung San Suu Kyi to condemn the horrific condition of the Rohingya muslims.

She wrote: “Over the last several years, I have repeatedly condemned this tragic and shameful treatment.
“I am still waiting for my fellow Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi to do the same. The world is waiting and the Rohingya Muslims are waiting.”
